Userplane Releases Easy Web Chat Service
2005-03-04 16:33:00
Userplane announced this week an easy to install and use version of its web chat product called Userplane Instant-Install. By inserting a small piece of HTML code into their web pages, companies can have access to and use a multi-user, multi-room, multimedia chat application, at a relatively low cost.
The Instant-Install product uses the company's ASP chat engine, running on a service supplied by Userplane. It isn't as full featured as the company's Webchat product, but it only costs $50 per month for a setup that will support up to 10 users. Prices go up from there, depending on usage, and users get billed monthly based on information supplied when they download the code and set up their account.
The chat service is suitable for community building within the enterprise, or for customer service. Other applications for it include supplier and other vendor communications and planning conferences.
The company's more traditional Webchat product is also Flash-based but requires a full-blown installation of the company's ASP-driven system. That product sports full integration with company data bases. New features announced for Webchat this week included larger, resizable video windows, including video windows that can be made quite large without damaging video quality.
