Japanese wireless operator NTT DoCoMo said this week that it is aiming a new line of phones for its 3G service at consumers.
The new 700i series of phones for its FOMA-branded service, include still and moving video capabilities, including ring videos, the ability to play music and a handful of other features aimed at consumers.
The FOMA service, based on W-CDMA, launched in 2001 and, until now, has been aimed primarily at business users. The company has said that, over time, it will phase out its wildly popular i-mode service, which is based on slower wireless technology.
