Microsoft Refreshes Desktop Search Toolbars

Along with the official launch of its home-grown search engine, Microsoft also refreshed the beta of its desktop search utility Tuesday.
MSN Toolbar Suite, which first appeared in mid-December 2004, now indexes e-mail file attachments faster, will index Outlook messages even if that client isn't the default e-mailer, and eliminates the irritating pop-ups that various anti-virus programs were putting on the screen when running the tool.
The suite includes three toolbars: one meant to Internet Explorer, another to be used within Outlook, and a third accessible from the Windows desktop.
The updated suite, which like the original beta works only with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, can be downloaded from Microsoft's Web site.
