Domain The Net, an ICANN accredited registrar and a provider of Brand Security and protection services, announced 3 new anti-Pharming and Brand Security solutions, developed by the company. The solutions - NameWatch, NameSecure, and NameLock are intended to prevent and identify Pharming attacks and provide a solution for thefts, hijacking and takeovers of domain names and websites.
According to Yoav Keren, CEO of Domain The Net, "The security risks facing businesses today are becoming more and more sophisticated. Due to the large investment in information security which includes firewalls, anti-virus software and other measures, parties who wish to harm the organization or to gain profit on its behalf, have found other ways to carry out their criminal plans. Thus, they exploit one of the central weak-points of an organization which is the security and maintenance of its domain name."
"These solutions are meant to protect the organization from hostile parties that have succeeded in penetrating the domain name settings and thus to create damage in a number of ways - including the disabling or overtaking the website, the blockage of all email communication of the organization, impersonating the organization's website through Pharming or Phishing attacks, etc." Keren added.
NameWatch- A system monitoring databases of domain Registries. Its aim is preventing hijacks, thefts, unauthorized registrar transfers, and undesirable changes which can harm or stop the website's and emails operation.
NameSecure - An Information Security system for anti-pharming operations, that monitors changes of the domain's settings in DNS servers, in order to detect and alert of Pharming activities. This system is designed to prevent damages as a result of DNS servers' attacks, in which impersonation occurs. These Pharming attacks are a fraud method which causes the end-user to believe he/she has logged into the original website, without being able to identify it is actually a bogus site.
NameLock - A solution designed to secure the domain at the Registrar's system. This solution prevents changes in the domain name and its settings. It is set to prevent cases in which an unauthorized party breaks to the organization's domain name account, and by that is able to alter the domain settings, "steal" or disable the web-site, disable all email systems and communication of the organization, or execute a temporary domain hijacking for the purpose of Pharming attacks assuming the identity of the original website, and hijacking its email accounts.
